Former Zamfara HoS Mujitaba Isah emerged Chairman, ABU Alumnus

Zamfara state former Head of Service, Muhammad Mujtaba Isah mni has been elected as Chairman, Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association, Zamfara state branch.

Declaring the results opened during the state Annual General Meeting and elections of new state executive council members of the association held at Kabiru Danbaba Hall, FCET Gusau, the Chairman, Electoral Committee and former Zamfara state Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Amin  declared that, Muhammad Mujtaba Isah mni emerged winner after scoring the high votes.

Other positions declared by the electoral body together with Chairman also are the positions of Vice Chairman that goes to Hadiza Modibbo, a seasonal banker and administrator, Sectary General, Idris Iliyasu Gusau, Assistant Secretatary, Abubakar Muhammad Maru, Treasurer, Yahanasu Ibrahim Na,ala and Bashar Ahmad Gusau as Financial Secretatary.

The rest are the positions of Public Relations and Welfare Officers that goes to Malam Sani Aliyu Moriki and Ibrahim Ahmad Ribe respectively.

While congratulating the elected officials, the Permanent Secretatary called on them to work together for the development of the association in Zamfara state.

Earliar in his good will message, the chairman of the occasion and Vice President, North-West of the ABU Alumni Association, Muhammad Aliyu Anka expressed happiness over the turned out of members and the maturity they exhibited throughout the elections period and further assured the national body of the association’s commitments in assisting the state branch to move forward. 

“with the election of the former Head of Service who is a seasonal administrator to the core as chairman and the faces of his team I saw now, I have no doubt he will used influence to bring more members to the branch” he informed.

He however advised the new executive council members to work hard by introducing an innovative ideas that would make the association more lively in the stste.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, thanked the delegates and zonal Vice President of the association, Muhammad Aliyu Anka for given him the mandates to serve as Chairman of the association and further assured to carry all members along in discharging his responsibility.

Important personalities that includes, Dr Abubakar Dogo Talata Mafara, Barrister Bello Garba, Hajia Kulu Ibrahim Na,ala, immediate past Chairman of the association, Provost, FCET Gusau, represented by Dr Dauda, Hon. Gazali Shehu, Special Adviser to Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara state and many ABU Alumnus attended the meeting.

Gov. Matawalle introduces feeding programme for Quran,nic schools in Zamfara

Zamfara state government has introduced a feeding programme for pupils ( Almajiris) of Quranic schools across the state. 

Speaking during the flaging off ceremony for the commencement of the programme held in Gusau, the state capital, Governor, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Abubakar S/Fawa Dambo at the event said, the programme was designed by the present administration in order to give Almajiri school pupils a sense of belonging.

“with the initiative in place, Quranic School Pupils across the state would be relieved of troubles in search for what to eat and further will make them feel at home and face their studies more seriously” he re-iterated.

As part of the effort to give the programme sense of direction according to him, the state government will construct a befitting permanent site for the feeding excercise through the state Directorate for Quranic Recitation which is saddled with responsibility in managing the programme.   

 Speaking also during the event, the Special Adviser, Directorate for Quranic Recitation, Dr. Atiku Balarabe stated that the significance of the feeding programme cannot be over emphasized considering the fact that Quranic school pupils ( Almajiris) have neither got what  they needs from their parents or guardians.

He commended the state Governor for  the gesture, especially at this time when other state governors are dispersing Almajiris out of their states.

Dr. Atiku warned officials assigned to manage the feeding exercise system across the state to fear Allah and work with honesty by shunning  sectionalism or political sentiment in discharging their assignment.

“52 schools were selected across the state for piloting the programme, 10  have been marked in Gusau local government area, being with larger number of Quranic schools, while the remaining 14 local government areas have 3 schools selected in each” he informed.

According to him all the selected selected schools from Gusau will be receiving 10 bags of rice and N20, 000 monthly allowance, while those selected from the remaining 13 local government areas will each be receiving 10 bags of maize and N20, 000 allowance monthly respectively.

however stated in addition to the above gesture the state government through the Directorate, provides uniforms to pupils and also construct additional Quranic schools across the state.  

ZMHA calls on FG to end influx of hard drugs in Zamfara

Zamfara state House of Assembly has called on federal and state government to do the needful things in bringing an end to the proliferation and influx of hard drugs and deadly substances injection in state.

Chairman, House Committee on Religious Affairs, Hon. Kabiru Hashimu Dansadau, member representing Maru south made the resolution under matters of urgent public importance of the House. 

Hon. Dansadau explained that, its became worried and concern on this negative development when he attended an Islamic conference in the state in which some Ulamas called the attention of governments at all levels to banned the importation of all these categories of hard drugs and nacotics as a recipe for escalation of Insecurity in the state.

“I wondered why such bad habitual activities are going on particularly in Zamfara state, despite the presence of relevant federal government agencies responsible to curtail the influx of hard drugs, such as National drugs law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Foods Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigerian Police Force and Department of State Security (DSS)  whom were either lagging on their responsibilities or compromising for reasons best known to them”, he added

While expressing dismay over the bad attitudes of drugs abusing by our youth, Hon. Hashimu however called on House members to make something needful to end the menace of drugs trafficking in the state.

In their separate contributions, the leader of the House, Hon. Faruk Musa Dosara and Hin. Nasiru Bello Lawali Bungudu,who expressed worried with these development added that, all must come together to curtail the ugly situation and further suggested that a resolutions to these effect must be made for the benefits of the public and state at large.

They called on all concerned to be fully abreats of their responsibilities while those found wanting would face the full wrath of the law.

The legislatures strongly condemned the sales of influx of hard drugs and nacotics substances by various Pharmaceutical Stores and Patent Medical Vendors that eventually end up in the hands of bandits in the state.

In another development, the House also screened and confirmed three more Special Advisers Nominees sent by the state executive governor, namely; Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad Lugga, Barr. Abdulrashid Haruna as well as Hon.Turaki Yahaiya Mafara respectively.

Hon. Danfulani receives Zamfara APC Chairman certificate of return, sworn – in NEC member

All Progressives Congress  (APC) Caretaker Chairman, Extraordinary Convention Comittee and Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has sworn – in Hon.Tukur Umar Danfulani as dually elected APC. Chairman, Zamfara state and member, National Executive Council (NEC) of the party in Abuja.

Administring the oath – of office to Hon. Danfulani along with 35 other state chairmen at the APC National headquarters Abuja, the National Chairman of the committee Hon. Mai Mala Buni who presented a certificate of returns to the party chairmen who emerged winners following the state congresses of the party held throughout the country last year however advised them to be united.

While congratulating the Zamfara state APC Chairman Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani and his executive members for their zeal and commitment in bring all members of the party in the state together, Hon. Mai mala Buni further  assured them National Secretariat of the party support for the development of the party in the state.

Responding after swearing-in of the state party leaders, the state Publicity Secretary of the party Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau in a statement issued to newsmen stated that with swearing – in of the new NEC members, puts to rest, the existence of any faction of the party in Zamfara state as the national leadership has now demonstrated that it only recognizes Hin.Tukur Umar Danfulani’s-led leadership in the state.

Speaking shortly after the event which took place at the  National Headquarters of the party in Abuja, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani expressed gratitude to Allah for coming thus far.

While thanking the party stakeholders, leaders, loyalists and supporters in Zamfara state for their support to the party and his leadership Hon. Tukur Danfulani further assured to treat all party members in the state equally. 
 ” I urged you to continue to pray for the succes of the party and administration of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state” he appealled.

Hon. Tukur Umar however pledged to give an unalloyed support to the leadership and government of the Bello Matawalle led administration in Zamfara as well as to the national leadership of the party under Hon. Mai Mala Buni for the party to succeed both at state and national.

ZMSG to establish psychiatric hospital, offers assistance to less privilleage

Zamfara state government has promised to construct a befitting  Psychiatric hospital in the state to reduce difficulties the citizens encountered in accessing psychiatric services elsewhere.

Governor Bello Matawalle disclosed this during the launching of 3rd Phase programme of the state Zakkat Collection, Distributions and Endowment Board exercise to less privileged and other needies drawn from the 17 emirates councils in the state held at the headquarters of the board in Gusau, the state capital.  

“My administration resolved to established this psychiatric hospital just to reduces the difficulties our people with psychiatric problem may encounter in accessing psychiatric services elsewhere” he noted.

While commending the board under the leadership of Sheikh Abubakar Ibn Sodangi for its laudable initiatives beyond its primary roles, governor Bello Matawalle however pledged more economy empowerment initiatives for the benefit of the people of the state.

Earlier in his remarks, Executive Chairman, State Zakat Collection, Distributions and Endowment Board, Sheikh Abubakar Ibn Sodangi Gusau,   said the 3rd phase Programme of Zakkat distributions entailed assorted commodities and financial assistance to the needies and less privileged persons drawn across the state.

Sheikh Sodangi  stated that, 450 people  with various form and degrees of financial difficulties got cash backing of varied amounts depending on the severity of circumstances.

” in order to empower poor families, the board has sponsored 60 children of less privileged persons for a  diploma program in computer studies for them to be computer literates on the basis of which they can be self employed and further distributed 100 bags of 25kg of foodstuffs to people with HIV/AIDS  in the state in order to supplement their condition” he emphasised.

Sheikh Sodangi however said, as part of the board preparations for the upcoming Ramadan, plans are under way to provides Ramadan/Sallah  packages to 40,000 people across the state.

Gov. Zulum visits Zamfara, condoles Matawalle over attacks

Governor Babagana Umara Zullum of Borno State has called on the people of states threatened by terrorists to stand up and assist the Government in ending the menace as Government alone cannot bring an end to the problem.

Babagana Zullum made the called in Guasu, when he paid an official visit to Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to comisserate with him and the people of Zamfara state over the loss of lives and property arising from the activities of terrorists in the state.

According to the statement issued to newsmen by the Special Adviser to Governor on Media and Publicity, Mallam Zailani Bappa stated that Governor Zullum said the entire people of Borno state are saddened, especially with the recent attacks in communities of Anka and Bukkuyum emirates where many lives and property were lost.

“We in Borno and here in Zamfara state, we share a common problem which we have to face squarely, government alone cannot end the problem. I hereby call on all citizens to stand up and assist the government in their various little ways so that collectively, we shall triumph”, he advised.

Governor Zullum however informed that Borno has recorded massive losses from years of insurgency resulting in over 50,000 widows, 49,000 ophans and about 100,000 missing persons.He said that his administration is doing its best to address these human crises.

“Your Excellency, I commend your vision and tenacity without which you cannot come this way in the success you are recording against terrorism and the upliftment of your people to greater heights”, Governor Zullum told Governor Matawalle.

“You are my close friend”, Governor Zullum added, and he promised to continue relating and liasing with Governor Matawalle in order to end the common  problems facing their states. He donated the sum of N20 million to the victims of recent banditry attacks in the state.

Responding, Governor Bello Matawalle commended his counterpart for the concern and finding time to visit Zamfara state despite his own problems in Borno state.

“Borno and Zamfara share similar problem of terrorists attacks. I know how we share information, intelligence and the committment of how to end these problems we inherited. With  this committment and prayer and the support of our people, we shall triumph”, Governor Matawalle enthused.

He said that just like in Borno state, Zamfara has recorded losses in human and material form with no fewer than 25,000 ophans, 27,000 widows and over 3,000 houses destroyed with nearly 400,000 livestock rustled in the first eight years of the menace.

Governor Matawalle prayed that God Almighty will come to the aid of the two states and indeed, all states affected by terrorism, to end their decades of trials.

Zamfara APC mourns the death of late Hon. Naidda,

All Progressives Congress APC, Zamfara state chapter has described the death of Hon. Ibrahim Na,idda, a member representing Gusau 1 at the state House of Assembly as a great loss not only to the state but to the entire nation at large.

Condolling the family of the decease, the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Ma,azu Magarya and Zamfara State government in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Malam Yusuf Idris said, the party state secretariat, under the leadership of Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani has received with shock, the sad news of the passing away of Hon. Ibrahim Na’Idda of Gusau1 as a result of protracted illness. 

The statement quoted Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani saying mournig the passing away of their party members which according to him is a great loss to the APC family in Zamfara State and nation in general. 

While describing late Hon. Ibrahim Na’Idda as hardworking, honest and a patient  person who believed in team work for the purpose of having a peaceful society free of all forms of disunity, the state APC chairman however extends his heartfelt condolences to Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, Gusau emirate council and his immediate family over the death.

He prayed Almighty Allah to reward the soul of the deceased with Jannatul firdaus and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Late Hon. Ibrahim Naidda died at Federal Medical Center Gusau after a prolong illness.

ZACAS introduces skills acquisition centre in Gusau

Zamfara State College of Arts and Science, ( ZACAS) has introduced entrepreneurship skills center in an effort to create jobs opportunity for the students of the college.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, the Public Relations Officer of the centre, Mal Ahmad Tijjani Dahiru stated that, in a bid to encourages entreprenuership skills aimed at creating jobs oppurtunity, reduction of poverty and generating incomes, the Zamfara College of Arts and Science, (ZACAS) under the leadership of Dr. Yakubu Sanusi Gusau has introduced Skills Acquisition Training Centre in order to enhanced the entrepreneurial skills of students of the college in various categories of handcrafts. 

The statement added that,the new centre to be supervise by Mal. Muhammad Bashir Ibrahim is expected to change the mindset of the teaming students of the college in becoming employers of labour rather than been employed and equipping them with requisite knowledge(skills) that need to contributes their quota in reducing the index of poverty and joblessness bedeviling the world. 

Part of the skills programs started according to the Public Relations Officer includes; shoe making, beads making, barbing, graphic design, video animation, Web design and agro Allied.

Mal Ahmad Tijjani called on individual, organizations and politicians who have zeal of reducing unemployed youth in the society to contact the Center for registration.

Zamfra police arrests fake lawyer, 9 others

Police in Zamfara state have arrested a fake lawyer, Mr Chukwuka Jude and 9 others suspects for different criminal conspiracies and culpable homicide in the state.

Parading the suspects to the newsmen at the command headquarters, Gusau, Zamfara state Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba N Elkana disclosed that the suspect, Mr Chukwuka Jude was arrested inside Higher Sharia Court, T/wada Gusau, acting as lawyer to a client after the command received a complaint from the Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Zamfara state chapter.

Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspect according to CP Ayuba includes fake plastic ID, stamp and letter headed paper carrying his chamber name with “Title J.N Monyei & Co Chamber”.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that, the suspect has been putting appearance in different courts at K/Namoda, B/Magaji Shinkafi and Gusau local government areas,where he was finally arrested for standing as a Counsel to unsuspecting litigant for fees”  he addad

The Commissioner of Police who was represented by the command Public Relations Officer, S P Muhammad Shehu during the briefing further stated that, before the fake lawyer was arrested, he deceived one of his victim who live in Kuraje village, Damba district in Gusau where he charged him N100,000 for the service out of which he has collected N23, 000 as part payment.

To further support the allegations, SP Shehu informed that the suspect in a bid to escape arrest and prosecution has offered the sum of N300,000 as bribe to the Court duty Police officer who instantly rejected the offer.

CP Ayuba said the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution on completion of the investigation.
In a related development, the command further arrested one Saminu Abubakar from T/Wada Gusau, who involved in Kidnapping Alhaji Yusuf ofGada Biyu area of Gusau with exhibits of N479,400, Samsung Tablet, voter’s card and four different vehicles plate Numbers, Tecno Spark, Mobile phone, Tecno mobile phone keypad recovered from him.

Other six man syndicates who specializes in receiving stolen properties in Gummi local government area paraded by the command during the press conference were, Hamza Abubakar from Kebbi, Sani Abubakar Gummi, Babangida Tukur Sokoto, Ibrahim Mohammed Kebbi, Mannir Mohammed Sokoto, Bashar Dalhatu from Sokoto and Umma kusari from Sokoto.

“exhibits recovered from the suspects are Toyota Corolla black in colour, Toyota Corolla red in Colour and N500,000 respectively” he stated.
