Police in Zamfara rescued two kidnapped students of FGC Birnin Yauri

Police in Zamfara state have rescued two students recently kidnapped by bandits at the Federal Government Collage Birnin Yauri, Kebbi state 

Briefing newsmen at the Police headquarters in Gusau, the  Zamfara state Commissioner of Police, CP Husaini Rabiu said the victims who are among the students kidnapped at the College were rescued by the command personnel on Saturday at Babbar Doka village in Dansadau District of Maru Local Government area in Zamfara state.

The two students rescued according to CP Husssaini students were Maryam Abdulkareem from Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger state and Faruk Buhari of Wara Local Government Area of Kebbi state respectively.

” the two students were taken to hospital for medical checking and confirmed well and the command will conveyed them to Kebbi state Police Command for onward handing over to Kebbi state Government for them to be reunite with their respective families” CP Husssaini further stated.

While commending the personnel for their commitments to duty CP Husssaini however urged the general public, especially those living around Dansadau area to help the Police with credible intelligence to rescue the remaining students who are still in captivity.

Malama Fatima Abdullahi, a relative of Maryam AbdulKarim who arrived Police headquarters in Gusau from Niger state to reunite with her sister expressed gratitude to Allah and the Police for the safe rescued of the two students.

Zamfara Assembly member advises government to tackle flooding problems in Anka town

A member representing Anka in Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Muhammad Anka has present a motion before the house calling on the state government to tackled the problem of flooding in Anka local government area.

Presenting the motion to the floor of the house, Hon Yusuf said, the needs for the immediate construction of the 400 metres drainage and culverts by the government around the area to addressed erosion problems became necessary.

According to him, for many years Anka community and it’s environs were  subjected to untold hardship by constant flooding that always washed away farmlands and causing water erosion along Anka Gummi road.

 Supporting the motion presented, Hon, Shamsu Hassan Basko, a member representing Talata Mafara emphesized the need for the construction of the culverts and drainage by the state government for the benefit of the people in the area.

After extensive deliberations on the matter, the House unanimously  resolved  called on the state government to awards the contract for the construction of  400 metres drainage and culverts in Anka Town in order to save the area from flooding.

Zamfara Police debunk media reports on the abduction of 60 commuters along Sokoto-Gusau road

Zamfara state Police  Command has debunk the story  trending on social and conventional media that armed bandits blocked Sokoto – Gusau road and Abducted 60 people travelling from Sokoto to Abuja.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Shehu Muhammad viewed the story  as in accurate and a calculated attempt by some mischief makers  to create fear and apprehension into the minds of the general public, especially the commuters.

For the avoidance of doubt according to the statement, on 25th July, 2021, a large number of armed bandits blocked a Toyota Bus vehicle blonging to the Sokoto state Mass Transit and abducted eleven (11) Passengers who were travelling  from Sokoto – Abuja along Sokoto – Gusau Road in Bakura Local Government Area.

The statement however stated  that immediately the Police Tactical operatives attached to Operation Restore Peace were alerted they quickly mobilzed to the location and dislodged the hoodlums who blocked many vehicles for abduction and the road was instantly cleared for motorists and other road users.

“In the course of mopping up the scene, a Toyota Bus Vehicle belonging to Sokoto State Mass Transit was sighted empty and it was revealed that eleven (11) Passengers including the driver were abducted and taken to the bush before the arrival of the Police” the statement further stated.

Having observed that according to the statement the Operatives further embarked on search and rescue operation in the sarrounding bush with a  view to rescuing the kidnapped victims. Two (2) Persons who were left far behind with other hoodlums were abandoned by their captors for fear of being neutralised by the Police operatives, the remaining nine (9) victims were taken to the forest.

While appealing to the general public to be calm the statement stated that the Police are currently employing various search and rescue strategies aimed at rescuing the victims safely. 

The statement therefore enjoined members of the general public to distance them selves from the abduction of 60 people and appeal to the  members of the press to always verified the authenticity of any information before going to the public.

Zamafara Speaker reaffirms Government commitment to address insecurity in the state

Zamfara state Government has reaffirmed it’s commitment in ensuring that lives and properties of its citizens have been protected.

Speaker, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu,azu Magarya stated this when the residents of Dansadau in Maru local government area paid a solidarity visit to the members of the state assembly to show their supports on the actions taken by the administration of Governor Bello Matawalle in bringing lasting solution to the menace of insecurity in the state.

Addressing the gathering at the premises of the state Assembly Complex in Gusau, Hon. Magarya commended the protesters for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner and their tirelessly effort in contributing for the  lasting solution of insecurity across the state.

“We are here to depend your interest and we will not excute any or carried any decisions that is not in the interest of our people” Magarya added.

He urged the general public to remain calm and continue to pray for the lasting existence peace in the Zamfara state.

Earliar in his contribution, the member representing Maru South, Hon, Kabiru Hashimu Dansadau informed the gathering that the administration of Governor Bello Matawalle is working around the clock to ensure that the residents of the state sleep with their two eyes and assured that, their complain will be looks into for quick consideration.  

Speaking during these visits, the leader of the group, Engr. Yau Muhammad Abbas said, they were at the state House of Assembly Complex in order to show their solidarity and support and further commends the leadership of Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle in addressing security challenges in their area.

“Dansadau and it’s surrounding communities have lost alot in the hands of banditry, which has taken away farming and other socio-economic activities in the area” he stated.

He called on the state government to deal with anyone found guilty in fueling armed Banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

According to him only peace can revive the farming and commercial activities in the area as traders from other communities finds its difficult to attend market day in their area.

Zamfara Police neutralises bandits along Gusau- Sokoto road

Police in Zamfara state have neutralised armed bandits who blocked Gusau – Sokoto road along Dogon Karfe axis in Bakura local Government area and kidnaped 12 commuters. 

In a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau by the Zamfara state Police Command, Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu said on receiving the report of the incident, the Police Tactical Operatives on patrol along the road quickly mobilzed to the location and heavily engaged  in a gun duel with the   bandits who already abducted  innocent commuters and were about to take them to the forest.

During the encounter with the bandits the statement further stated that, one of the bandits was fatally injured while eleven (11) kidnapped victims were instantly rescued by the operatives. 

While commending the Police Tactical Operatives for their commitments to service, the statement further reiterated the command efforts to  intensify various search and rescue strategies for the safely rescue of the remaining other victim who was  taken to the forest before Police arrival.

All the rescued victims were reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hussaini Rabiu psc reaffirmed the command commitments and determination to bring to an end to the lingering security challenges in Zamfara state.

YIF distributes relief packages to orphans in Zamfara

Yazeed Initiative Forum ( YIF), a non Governmental Association in Gusau has distributed over one hundred relief packages to orphans and less privilleage in Zamfara state.

Announcing this during the distributions excercise at Anka emir Palace, the co,ordinator of the forum, Mallam Rufai UB said the gesture was part of the Yazeed Shehu Danfulani’s commitment in assisting the needful for a better and peaceful society.

The Co,ordinator further said the founder of the forum, Hon. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani within the period under review had trained and supported over 700 youths on small scale businesses for them to be self reliant.

Responding at the occasion, emir of Anka and Chairman, Zamfara state Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Attahir Ahmad Muhammad Anka has commended the philanthropist for the kind gestures and further call on wealthy individuals in the state to emulate him.

The relief package distributed  through Females Ulama Association of Zamfara State (FUAZ) includes, clothing materials, food items as well as the donation of N500.00 to each of the orphans.

Yoruba Community confers the title of “Balogun” to Hon. Yazeed Danfulani

Yoruba Community in Zamfara state  confered the title of Balogun of Zamfara to Him. Yazeed Shehu Danfulan for his contributions to citizens in the state.

Speaking during the confirmation of the new title ceremony held at the Oba Yoruba’s Palace in Gusau, the Oba Yoruba of Zamfara state, Alh Abdulrazaq Shobanke said, the Yoruba Community in Zamfara state picked Hon. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani for the traditional titles of Balogun of Zamfara due to his selfless services to the people of the state regardless of tribes or religions.

“am happy to confered  the title of Balogun on this young Dynamic son of our land, who has been helping the masses through his various philanthropic gesture” he said
Oba shabanke added that with the likes of Yazeed Shehu Danfulani in the society, the masses will always have their problem solved.

Responding after the turbaning the new Balogun of Zamfara Hon. Yazeed said he started his philinthoropic gesture in order to contributes his quarter for the development of state and society in general.

Hon. Yazeed assured that, his foundation will continue to contributes to the development of the youth in the state, irrespective of their tribes or religions to ensure that they become self reliants.

Zamfara Assembly to accords much priority to sensitive bills

Zamafara State House of Assembly members have said they will continue to accord much priority on sensitive issues and important bills sponsored for public hearing for the betterment of the state.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya made this known during a Public Hearing on a  bill for a law to Improve Children and Young Persons  Education in the state and to prevent them all forms of  distractions during school hours, which was held at Teachers Training Centre, along bye Pass Gusau.

The Speaker who was represented by the Clark to the House Alhaji Shehu Saidu Anka explained that,the strategy of this hearing will go along way in adding values to the main concept of the bill and will also give clear understanding on how to improve education of  the children in the state.

” Let me assure you that, the leadership of the 6th Assembly in the state will continue to accord much priority to public hearing on every sensitive and important bill such as this with our cardinal objectives of purposeful representation” the Speaker stated.

To show a clear commitment and seriousness in the task of low makers according to him, last week the entire members were  in Kano for three day sensitisation and dialogue meeting aimed at moving the state forward on these issues.

” The House Committee on Basic, Secondary and Non Formal Education which is statutory responsible for the collation of all memoranda oral or written consider each and every input given with the sole aim of reaching safe conclusion towards easy promulgation of this into law”, he added.

He assured that the house will not relent  in it’s efforts untill all relevant laws for proper governance of Zamfara state particular law prohibiting banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, cultism and all forms of insecurity are  promulgated and pass into law.

While commending the sponsors of the bill in person of Hon Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma for his wenderful development and achievement in the act of the lawmaking, Hon. Nasiru Magarya further urged other members of the Assembly to emulate him in that direction.

Earliar in his remarks, the bill sponsors, Hon. Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma said the main objectives of this public hearing was to allowed society to contributes toward the educational Development of the state.

Hon. Kanoma emphesized that, education is the back bone of any society, no society can developed without education and therefore call on parent to educate their children’s for the crimes to be reduced within the societies.

Gov. Matawalle officially received APC flag from Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has formally presented the All Progrssive Congrss (APC) flag to Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Director General, Media, Public Enlightement and Communication, office of the Executive Governor, Malam Yusuf Idris stated that during the Presentation of the APC flag at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,  President Buhari expressed happiness with the new development where PDP governors and their supporters are joining the APC everyday in order to change the narratives of the nation for the better.

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle was led to the President alongside his Cross River state counterpart, Ben Ayade, Chairman,  APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai-Mala Buni and Speaker, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya further assured Mr President his commitments in moving the Party forward being a leader in the state.

You may recall on 29th June, 2021, Governor Matawalle decamped from PDP to APC along with all members of Zamfara state House of Assembly, three senators and six members of House of Representatives from the state.

Bandits kidnapped Emir of Kajuru, 10 other members of his family

Police in Kaduna state have confirmed the kidnapped of the Emir of Kajuru, His Royal Highness, Alhassan Adamu and (10) other members of his family.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen recently by the Kaduna state Police command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige.

According to the statement the emir and some members of his family were kidnapped when armed bandits in large numbers invaded Kajuru town, the headquarters of the local government area, shot sporadically and gained access into the emir residence’s where they abducted him and ten (10) members of his immediate family to an unknown destination.

The statement further stated  that, the joints patrol of the Police Mobile Force (PMP), Conventional Police and the Nigerian Army attached to Kajuru local government are currently engaged in search and rescue mission of the abductees around the forest.

The command however called on members of the general public in the area to remain calm and supports the police and other security agencies with credible information that may led to the rescue of the victims.
