Zamfara state First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad Matawalle ( Inna Wuron Kaura-Namoda), has recorded tremendous successes in the past two years.
It could be recalled that Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad became the First Lady of the state about two years ago when her husband and Zamfara state Governor, His Excellency Hon. Dr. Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun, Shattiman Sokoto) became the state governor.
The Office of the First Lady is an integral part of the state government which has recorded various achievements in fundamental areas of development, particularly which affect women in the state.
Inna Wuron Kaura-Namoda has over the period under review, touched positively. the lives of women cut across rural and urban communities in the state
She initiated a welfare package for women through which 1800 women from the respective 14 local government areas in the state benefitted a monthly N20,000 cash donation, foodstuffs and clothing materials .
The aim was to cushion the effect and rate of poverty among under privileged women in the state, and the gesture has significantly uplifted their socioeconomic status.
As part of her desire to make women in the state become self dependent or self employed, Inna Wuron Kaura-Namoda introduced WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME designed to train women in various skills acquisition schemes such as making sanitary pads, body cream, learning tailoring, knittings, detergents and soap making.
About 22,000 women from the 14 local government areas of the state were mobilized and given technical training on the above vocational trades, and each participant received a sawing machine, input materials and N5,000 cash from the First Lady as a starter kick to apply their skills into profitable ventures.
The beneficiaries of the gesture included individual women, gender groups as well as women associations in the state.
Similarly, during the Covid 19 pandemic, the Office of the state First Lady also mobilized 60 women drawn from the three Senatorial Districts of the state and trained them in production of facemasks and hand sanitizing fluids.
After their training, the First Lady donated to them, a sawing machine each and cash, while contract for the production of 10,000 facemasks was awarded to the trained women as an encouragement to the usage of their skills and for improving their financial capacity.
Being gender sensitive, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad Matawalle also donated a sum total of N35,000,000 to vulnerable women across the state in order for them to have a sigh of relief.
The First Lady also has distributed assorted drugs and.”MAMA KITS” worth millions of Naira to thousands of winning mothers in all the 14 local government areas of the state as part of her move to reduce maternal and mortality rate in the state.
This initiative had saved many winning mothers and their new born babies in the state of many hazards.
Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad Matawalle considers the rights, dignity and chastity of women very seriously.
In view of the above, she launched a 15-day Statewide Sensitization and Awareness Campaign to fight out violence against women or Gender Based Violence which she took to the streets, royal fathers, educational/religious institutions and security outfits in the state.
As part of her care for women, the First Lady took drastic measures against drug abuse among youths, with special concern for young girls. Her prompt action had saved many young girls especially, from the dangers of drug abuse in the state.
Sequel to her fight against drug abuse, Inna Wuron Kaura-Namoda took upon herself to renovate the NDLEA Rehabilitation Center in Gusau, the state capital.
The Office of Her Excellency has empowered several women groups and women business associations in the state by giving them grants and other financial backing to improve on their own for self reliance.
The First Lady did not relent in prioritizing and protecting women dignity, hence her office trained 20 secondary school girl students on the techniques of personal hygiene and general cleanliness during mensuration who would in turn, guide other women on how best to take care of themselves whenever they are in their mensuration period.
In fact, Inna Wuron Kaura-Namoda has performed creditably well and has achieved much in the last two years of the current administration in the state which endeared her in the hearts of the people of Zamfara state, especially the women folk.
Her magnanimity has earned her respect and fetched her several awards from individuals, groups, corporate bodies and associations, among whom is the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ.
