Zamfara Dep. Governor honours with Dr. degree

Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Sen. Hassan Muhammad Nasiha Gusau has conferred with the honorary Doctorate degree in Philosophy (phd) causa, by the GD Goenka University, New Delhi India.

Presenting the honourary doctorate degree to the recipient at the ceremony held in the University, New Delhi, India, the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor (Dr) Tabrez Ahmad, described Senator Dr. Hassan Muhammad Gusau as the number two individual chosen, to date, by the institution within its twenty-eight years of existence for the award of Honorary Doctorate Degree on a personality from any country in the African continent. 

According to Professor Tabrez Ahmad, GD Goenka University is the leading proprietor of academic institution at a university level that excell above over two hundred and twenty educational institutions across India in the provision of quality and sound education in a standard highly recognized conducive learning environment.

Reading the citation of the recipient, the Vice Chancellor further said, the University identified some key important sectors of the economy that Senator Gusau attaches importance to for which he contributes immensely particularly in the sectors of agriculture, health, commerce, water resources, and politics.

The management and students of GD Goenka University however congratulated Senator Dr. Hassan Muhammad Gusau for the award and urged him to remain the pride of the University by continuous display of his position as one of its important ambassadors not only in Nigeria but in the whole of Africa.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Nigerian High Commissioner in India, His Excellency, Ahmad Sule described the award as timely and and the honor is not only for Senator Gusau but for the good people of Zamfara State and  Nigeria at large.

The Nigerian High Commissioner expressed appreciation to the management of the University, for choosing a Nigerian for this year’s special award.

Zamfara first lady distributes Pad Bank to female students

Zamfara state first lady and wife of the Executive Governor, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Bello Matawalle has officially lunched the distributions of Pad Bank to 45 Junior Secondary Schools across the six local government areas of the state.

Presenting the Pad Bank at Government Girls Day Secondery School Bungudu, Wife of the Executive Governor Hajia Aisha said, the gesture was provided by the state government in collaborations with Zamfara state Universal Basic Education Board with support of UNICEF.

Hajia Aisha who was represented at the presentation ceremony by the Wife of the state Deputy Governor, Hajiya Rahamu Hassan Nasiha Gusau, Commended the efforts of the state Universal Basic Education Board and the development partners who is supporting the state government in some key sectors of human development and call on them to maintain the tempo

“The programme aimed at addressing the lingering challenges of out of school children is part of federal government efforts in partnership with UNICEF” she stated.

Hajia Aisha maintained that “the state government priority of girls educations is based on the understanding the numerous challenges that the vulnerable girls are being faced as well as to enable the entire out of school children particularly girls to have basic education.

In his good will message, the Emir of Kauran Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Ahmad Asha commended the effort of first lady for her concerned to vulnerability.

Cash Transfer: Magarya commends Gov. Matawalle

 The monthly un-conditional cash transfer initiated by Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state has been described as a catalyst for addressing the multidimensional socio economic challenges among the less privileged and vulnerable individuals across the state.

Speaker, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu,azu Magarya made this assertion to newsmen while commenting on the Initiative which according to him will definitely address some of the political and socio-economic challenges in the state. 

Hon. Magarya commended Governor Matawalle for having his people at heart by expanding the social intervention’s drive to political wards and polling unit’s level, in addition to the strong institutionalisation of social protection by assenting to the child protection, social protection and disability laws recently passed by the state House of Assembly.

While appealing to the electorate in the state to support all government Programmes, Magarya further advised those responsible for the implementation of the new cash transfer programme at different level to put the fear of Allah while providing the list of beneficiaries.

” Proper coordination and effective targeting mechanism should guide the process for it to succeed”, he advised.

According to him, the monthly cash transfer of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) to fifty (50) beneficiaries from each of the one hundred and forty-seven (147) wards and that of Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) one-off to over eight thousand (8,000) poor and vulnerable which is to be manned by Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management will together cover over fifteen thousand (15,000) beneficiaries from across the state on monthly bases.

Emir of Gusau commends Albishir Orchard Children’s School for promoting Islamic education

Emir of Gusau, Dr, Ibrahim Bello has commended the leadership of Albishir Orchard Children School Gusau for their committement in promoting Islamic Knowledge in the emirate.

Speaking during a Walimat of students held at the premises of the Albishir Orchard Children School Islamiyya Section, GRA Gusau Dr, Ibrahim said the commendations became imparetive considering the way and mannar the students of the Islamiya school acquired more Knowledge and urged the School Management to Maitain the tempo.

Dr, Ibrahim Bello said the emirate is proud of the school and called on parent and guardians to send their ward to the school for aquiring  more knowledge.

While appealing to the staff of the school to continue with the good work they are doing, Dr, Ibrahim Bello further advised other schools proprietors in the emirate to emulates with the Albishir in the area of promoting both Western and Islamic education. 

Earliar in her speech, the Director, Albishir Orchard  Children School and (Islamiyya Section) Hajiya Ubaida Shehu  expressed happiness over the support and assistance the the parent gave towards the successful conduct of the Walimat ceremony.

The Director further thanked Emir of Gusau, Dr Ibrahim Bello, parents and guardians for answering their invitation and  attender the Walimat ceremony and prayed Allah to return them back to their respective distinations safely.

Speakers forum appoints Magarya, Coordinator, Tunibu/ Shattima Door- door campaign

Zamfara state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu,azu Magarya made the calls shortly after partaking in a flaging-off ceremony of the APC Northern speakers “Door- Door for Tunibu and Shettima 2023 Forum held at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Director General Press Affairs, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Malam Nasiru Usman Biya Biki stated that Hon. Magarya described the formation of the forum as timely considering the need for unity of purpose among Nigerians. 

“Nigeria is presently in dire need of patriotic leaders who are ready to work towards rebuilding the nation, hence the need for coming together by the forum to work for the realization of Tinibu Shettima Movement, come 2023 general elections” he maintained.

According to the statement, the APC Northern Speakers Door-Door for Tinibu and Shattima 2023 had the Speaker, Kaduna state House of Assembly Rt. Honourable Zailani Yusuf, as Chairman, and Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Kolawole Mathew as Secretary.

The statement further mentioned that ” the “DOOR TO DOOR FOR TINIBU AND SHETTIMA 2023 FORUM’s LOGO” was unveiled by the Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Bola Ahmad Tinibu amidst celebrations.

Daily Trust Foundation trains journalists on digital marketing, editing

A training for Media Professionals on Digital Marketing organise by Daily Trust Foundation under its newly designed Programme, Media Enterprise Lab has commenced in Abuja. 

Addressing the participants during the flagging-off ceremony of the programme in Abuja, the Chairman of the Training Committee, Mannir Dan-Ali said  programme which is to cover digital marketing, film and documentary production, book writing and editing, document digitisation, managing not-for-profit and multimedia journalism skills for freelancers was designed to help media professionals and Journalists in the country to build a new career after retirement from job.

“media professionals need to think beyond their daily meals and prepare for challenges of tomorrow especially after retirement or loosing job” he added.

While commending the leadership of Daily Trust for organizing the programme, the former BBC staff however enjoined participants to take the bold step to better their lives, saying “those doing it don’t have two heads adding that, the Media Lab programme good programme is designed to equipped Journalists with knowledge that will help them hold governments accountable on their actions.

Earliar in his remarks, the Director (Africa) MacArthur Foundation, Dr Kole Shettima, stressed that MacArthur Foundation only supports reputable media based on the credibility of their reporting, stressing that media is a veritable tool in holding government officials accountable.

“We supported Daily Trust based on the work they are doing which tallies the laid down rules for assessing MacArthur media grant,” he announced.

He informed that MacArthur Foundation has rendered support to over 13 online media and about 25 other media organizations at the local level in Nigeria

Gov. Matawalle reshuffles four Commissioner

Governor Bello Muhammed Matawalle of Zamfara state has approved the reshufflment of four commissioners in his cabinet.

Some of the affected commissioners according to a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe (Sardaunan Dan Isa) are;  Hon. Nasiru Zarumi Masama; from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Education, Hon. Zainab Lawal Gummi; from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs respectively.

Others are, Hon. Lawal Abubakar who was the Commissioner, Ministry of Social and Community Development now moved to the Ministry of Youth and Sports while, Hon. Muhammad Abubakar Gummi who was recently sworn-in by Governor Matawalle has been posted to the Ministry of Social and Community Development. 

All the redeployment and posting of the affected officers  according to the statement is with immediate effect.

Security: ZMSG establishes citizens emergency call centre

Zamfara state government has established an emergency call centre for the general public to call in the event of any emergencies, particularly on security.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital by the state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara (Kakakin Maradun) informed that the newly established call centre will immediately verified, processed and directed to the appropriate security operatives for necessary rescue operations across the 14 local government areas of the state.
The emergency call centre “112” which is free of charge according to the statement can also be call from anywhere in case of any attack, kidnapping, cattle rustling, movement of bandits and other criminals activities within the state.

Hon. Magaji Dosara stated that the decision by the state government to established the emergency call centre which the first of it kind in Nigeria is to ease and facilitate citizens in reaching out to authorities or security operatives if there’s any security breach by bandits and or criminals in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Verify ur. foodstuffs before consuming – Dosara advised

Zamfara state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara ( Kakakin Maradu) has advised people in the state to always be conscious of what they eat and how they prepare their food before consumption.

Zamfara Information manger made this advised while condolling the family members of the seven people’s that lost their after consuming food suspected to be poisonous in Danbaza Village of Dosara District in Maradun Local Government.

Describing the sudden death of the deceased as a great loss not only to their family but to the entire of people of Maradun local government, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara further advised the entire people of the community to always verify food before consuming it. 

“peoples should always verify to ensure that, the foodstuffs they are about to prepare as their meals do not contain any insecticides or chemicals used in preserving them are not  harmful to human, with a view to ensuring safety of their lives” he advised.

While expressing his sympathy to the entire people of the community over the tragedy, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji however prayed Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased Aljannah Firdausi and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Responding on behalf of the family, Malam Hassan Danbaza said he lost two of his wives, three children and two grandchildren in the incident. Malam Hassan thanked the Commissioner for the condolence visit and prayed journey mercy for the Commissioner and members of entourage. 

In the same vein Hon. Ibrahim Dosara also paid another condolence visits to the families of Magajin Garin Danbaza, Alh Sani Mai Wanki Hula who died recently, death of mother of Sarkin Pawan Dosara (Hajiya Amina) popularly known as Dogori and that of Malam Bako Muhammad Dosara who also lost his child (Abdulmumini Bako) on Wednesday 17/08/2022 where he prayed Allah (SWT) to grant all the deceased Aljanna Firdausi and the families the fortitude to bear the loss.

ZMSG orders Hoteliers to scruitinise their guests

Zamfara state government has ordered all hoteliers in the state to scrutinise all their guests by means of valid identification before admitting them into their hotels.

In a statement issued to newsmen at the end of the Security Council meeting held in Government House Gusau, the state capital on Monday, 15 August, 2022 the state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ibrahim Magaji Dosara ( Kakakin Maradu) stated that the measure is to checkmate terrorists and criminals as part of the government efforts to tackle insecurity in the state, as government was very much concern over usage of hotels by terrorists and criminals to perpetrate their heinous activities in the state.

Hon. Dosara in a statement said any hotelier found violating the new order will have his hotel shut down and prosecuted according to the executive order recently signed by the state governor Dr Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun.

The security council meeting which lasted for eight hours according to the state government spokeman also considered enforcing restriction on motorcycles movement in the state capital and environs from 9pm to dawn and ordered the security agencies to shoot at sight, any motorcycle rider who violates the order and refused to stop at security checking points within the designated areas.

According to him the measure was taken by the security council following reports on the use of motorcycles by bandits and other criminals to perpetrate their criminal activities within the state capital and its out skirts.

The statement however emplored members of the public to be vigilant in their localities and report to security agencies any suspicious persons or strange movements in their respective communities.

According to him the state government would not take it lightly with any one found disturbing the peace and security of the people. Security of lives and property of the citizenry is a basic function of government anywhere and the government of Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle Maradun is doing everything humanly possible in accordance with the laws of the land to ensure the discharge of this responsibility.

In the same vein the security council members also charged security operatives, particularly military and police to do more in combating banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

“although peace in now gradually returning to the state, there is the need for working in synergy between and amongst the security operatives in the state” the statement reaffirmed.

While commending the general public   for their supports to all government Programmes the statement however charged charged parents to be alive to their responsibilities in proper upbringing of their children by close monitoring of their activities, especially the youths, to be useful members of the society.
